What a phrase to wake up to:

"David Bowie died."

Past tense. Just like that.

I grabbed my phone from my nightstand and turned on the first song that came to mind: his haunting rendition of Wild is the Wind, one of my favorites.

I started crying. Everything felt heavy and light at the same time. I wasn't sure what to think. Why am I crying? I didn't know this man.

But the music.

Clearly he spoke to all of us through the music.

"I had to resign myself, many years ago, that I'm not too articulate when it comes to explaining how I feel about things. But my music does it for me, it really does."

David Bowie
